Just unsubscribed from Apples mailing list. Don’t cringe! And I'll admit I’m not a techie. Haven’t done a deep dive analysis comparing the features of the iPhone vs. my android smart phone however I am happy with the phone I have and there’s no plans to make a change. The data cost less per month with the android for one thing vs. Apple and I wouldn't be surprised if my monthly charges are lower overall.
And no, it’s not a pricing issue either.
It’s news! People were in line for DAYS to get their hands on the iPhone5 and be the first. We all put a value on our time and to these folks the time is worth it.
Here are a few facts:
- NBC’s Today Show declared the phone “a rock star”.
- New feature: Panoramic photos. Okay, that’s nice, but do I need it?
- Also from the Today Show: People are paying as much as $1,500 to get their hands on this thing!
- Some sad truth: If you’re already an iPhone user, you’ll have to pony up $29 for an adapter to use the cables and accessories you already have. Now just think about how many million adapters will be sold; that’s the icing on the cake for Apple! That’s a bit of a very sour Granny Smith for consumers.
- Bigger screen – this appears to be a trend. My first smart phone was teeny tiny. My current one is larger but I’m already behind the times! It’s okay; I can easily see everything.
- Faster – uh ok…that’s to be expected with any new release…
- Siri is “better” whatever that means. Have you ever had a conversation with her? At times, she promotes massive giggles!
- 64 gig comes at a high price $399 …32 gig $299 and 16 gig $199. Somebody’s making money here! That’s like biting a brushed macintosh! And that’s not so delicious. Especially when I caught an article on TV where a company said that the incremental cost for that part was $10.
- Messy maps. Buh bye Google. Was that a mistake? An article from the Kansas City Star states that Madison Square Garden has been classified as a green park space. Guess there’s a bit more weeding to be done over time before some of the quirks go away.
Sounds like a mixed bag. However, to some, it’s worth camping out to be the first. That, my friends, is the power of a brand...Apple can do no wrong. If the next generation iPhone was made of cardboard, they’d still be lining up.
And they know how to make money. If you were to buy ONE share of stock, you’d pay $700 for it. Google is at $733. Which would you pick?
O.C. Smith sweetly sang about little green apples long before there was a brand with the name of that popular fruit (see below). For more “delicious” information, visit... at the website, Facebook, Twitter, and Google+ ...Thanks!

The question for me is: Did you get any smart phone yet?
I'm a holdout and I'm letting you all do the research for me.
Yes I have one. Had the same one for over a year now and it's been discontinued. It works just fine and does everything I want it to (and more) so I'm hanging in there for a while longer.
Love that you blaze the trail Gerry!
If you're thinking that I "buck the trend" then yes. My dad told me "Be a leader, not a follower" and those words tend to make do what everyone else ISN'T doing!
Yeah, Of-course people want to make their life easy, So they are always ready to pay high amount for that. Now using cell phones like iPhone5 you can change your life.
